Wilma Jean (Burrows) Copley

Wilma Jean (Burrows) Copley, 79, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on February 9, 1946, in Fortgay, Wayne County, West Virginia, to the late Harley H. and Opal (Thompson) Burrows. A devoted mother and homemaker, Wilma found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Her faith was the foundation of her life-she spent many quiet hours reading her Bible and treasured the time spent praying with her sister.

Wilma loved the simple pleasures of life. She found peace walking through the woods, joy in tending her garden, and pride in canning the fruits of her labor to share with those she loved. Her hands were rarely still, her gentle spirit and unwavering love touched everyone around her.

She is survived by her six children: Richard Lee Burrows, Fortgay, WV; Johnny Ray Cyrus; James David Copley, Columbus; Angela Lyn Quintero, North Lewisburg; Crystal May (Ronnie)Thompson, Fortgay, WV; and Leah Marie (Cory) Larrabee, Columbus; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Dolly Leoma Adkins of Cardington.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her sister, Lutrecia Brown.

Her family was her everything, and her legacy of love, faith, and fierce strength will live on in each of them.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street, Cardington, where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Sonny Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Fulton Cemetery.
