William Coleman Davenport

William "Bill" Coleman Davenport, a dedicated family man and loving husband passed away on January 11, 2024, at the age of 61 at the Marion General Hospital. Born on April 30, 1962, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, William was the beloved son of the late Herman Davenport Sr. and Jeanette (James) Davenport.

Growing up in Hattiesburg, William was a bright and diligent student. He graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1980, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and cherished memories. William had worked as an Engineering Technician at Columbia Gas, where he was respected and admired by colleagues for his expertise and unwavering commitment to his work.

Outside of his family life, William was a valued member of the community. He dedicated his time and energy as a member of the American Legion in Cardington, where he forged strong relationships and lent a helping hand to those in need.

William cherished his role as a loving husband to his devoted spouse, Vicki Davenport whom he married on April 17, 1999. Their bond was a testament to their love and loyalty, strengthened through shared joys.

In addition to his wife Vicki, William is survived by his sons: Fred Mullins and Paul Mullins; brother, Herman R. Davenport Jr. and his granddaughters: Violet Mullins and Samantha Gates.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sisters: Kathy and Linda Davenport.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Dennis officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
