Tommy L. Chafin, age 80 of Cardington died Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on July 30, 1939 in Lebanon, VA to the late Robert and May (Clark) Chafin.
Tommy worked in management at the Glenwood Range in Delaware. Tommy was a member of Christ the King Church in Fredericktown.
Tommy enjoyed golfing, hand painting on canvas, and doing woodworking projects like crafts and furniture with his wife. He loved history, researching different historical events, his church, spending time with family and grandchildren and his dog Izzy.
On July 24, 1982, Tommy married Marzetta Kinder in Mount Gilead and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2019.
Tommy is survived by his 3 daughters: Candy (Rob) Gale of Dover, Shelby Webb of Cardington and Barbara Chafin of Belfry, KY; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Betty (Rowland) Deel of Delaware and a brother, Bob (Laura) Chafin of Radnor; numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tommy was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Linda Hubbard and Patsy Deel.
Friends may call on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street, in Cardington. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Lucian Baker officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place at the Glendale Union Cemetery.
