Theodore Poorman Obituary

Theodore Mills Poorman, age 80, of Cardington died Tuesday morning May 22, 2018 in the Marion General Hospital. He was born July 7, 1937 in Cardington to the late Charles M. and Margaret M. (Mills ) Poorman. Mills was a 1955 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School and received his B.S. in Education from Ashland University in 1961. He was a teacher, coach, school bus driver, and drivers education instructor in the Cardington School District and owned Micro-Tote Ohio for 19 years. Mills was a member of the Cardington Rotary Club, Morrow County Republican Party where he served on the finance committee, Morrow County Central committee, was on the Cardington Public Library Board, served on the MOAC Board of Directors and was a member of the Ohio High School Athletic association, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Mills had been inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame and the Cardington-Lincoln High School Hall of Fame. Mills had been elected to serve as Cardington's Mayor for two terms. On June 11, 1961 in Cardington Mills married the former Carolyn M. Carr and she survives. Also surviving are his children; Michele ( Charles ) Naylor of Millersburg, PA., Douglas Poorman of Buckeye Lake, Daniel ( Abby ) Poorman of Dublin, Eric ( Jennifer ) Poorman of Marion, and Robert Poorman of Columbus and seven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mills was preceded in death by his sister Marcia Standley. Friends may call Friday May 25, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 until 9:00 pm at the Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center St. in Cardington. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in the First United Methodist Church, 300 S. Marion St. in Cardington with Chuck and Jonathan Naylor officiating. The burial will follow in the Glendale Cemetery.
