Elsie Lucille "Sue" Gliem, age 102 of Cardington went home to be with her Savior on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Morrow Manor Nursing Center. She was born on July 26, 1922, in Sugarcreek, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Elsie (Blickensderfer) Infield.
Sue was a 1940 graduate from Sugarcreek High School and went on to get her degree in Nursing from Massillon City Hospital. She was a traveling nurse who loved OB/Maternity work and finished her career as the School Nurse for the Cardington-Lincoln Schools.
Sue led a full life... Besides her nursing career, she enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and Ohio State Football. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family.
As a member of the Cardington Nazarene Church, Sue dearly loved Jesus, and served Him faithfully.
On October 10, 1948, she married Fred F. Gliem, and they were married for over 61 years. They lived at the Lutheran Memorial Camp for 28 years, where Fred was Camp Director.
Sue is survived by their children Dave (Laurel) Gliem, Bob (Regina) Gliem, Dee (Roger) Sanders, and Cynthia (Kevin) Long; 18 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by sons Tim and Joe Gliem, daughter-in-law Karen Gliem, siblings Lloyd and Paul Infield, and Rhea Kasner.
Friends may call on Sunday June 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Cardington Nazarene Church at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Cheek officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery.
