Stephen Paul Breckner

Stephen Breckner, age 76, of Cardington died on Sunday, November 7, 2021, in Marion. He was born on July 17, 1945, to Henry and Marjorie Breckner who preceded him in death.

Steve graduated from Cardington-Lincoln High School in 1963. After graduation, he worked at Mathews Service Station. He served in Vietnam 1965-1967. He worked for the Cardington Village Water & Sewer Department and retired from ODOT District 6 in 2009.

He spent the last several years caring for his mother, Marge, eating breakfast with his friends at Edison Depot, and making his rounds around Cardington. He loved cars, especially the Oldsmobile 442. He was a man of few words but when he said something, it was usually funny.

On April 7, 1972, he married Chris Keil in Cardington, who survives in Cardington.

In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his children Jackie and Matt Meyers of Cardington, Kelly and Nora Breckner of Hilliard, Jeff Breckner and Noelle Gravely of Cardington, and Katie and Colin Hansen of Cardington, and brother Scott Breckner of Las Cruces, NM. Grandchildren Zach, Camrie, Gabe, Griffin, Ellee, Maliah, Jarin, and Nolan.

Friends may call on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center St. Cardington, Ohio 43315. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home and the burial will follow in the Glendale Union Cemetery.

The Breckner family request that all individuals who will be attending services wear a mask.
