Stella M. Hammond, age 88 of Galion passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 7, 1937, in Morral to the late R. "Otis" and F. Alma (Pickens) Parson.
Stella was a dedicated general laborer for Thermadisk, was a beloved member of the Moose Lodge and AMVets, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and participating in activities like Bingo. As a farmer's daughter, she learned the value of hard work early on, and she carried that spirit throughout her life, always putting her family first. A devoted mother, she took great pride in raising her children and fostering a loving, supportive home. Stella's strong work ethic, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
On October 17, 1966, Stella married Harry Hammond Jr., and he preceded her in death on February 6, 1986.
Stella is survived by children: William Foust of Galion, Darlene Brown of Marion, Ivy Oehrli, Tracy Foust, Ruth Javens and Cindy Walters all four of Galion; twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, and sixty-one great-great-grandchildren; her siblings Loyde Parsons of Ashley, Ronnie Parson of Cardington and Lorene Bush of Iberia.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her two sons Ronnie Foust and Rickie Hammond: her siblings Donald, Delbert and Dolly Parson.
Friends may call on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington with the funeral directly starting at 1:00 PM with Celebrant LeAnne Gompf officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Ashley Union Cemetery.
