Sheila Anne (Hord) Heskett

Sheila A. Heskett, age 71 of Centerburg passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, in Centerburg surrounded by her family. She was born on February 18, 1951, in Marion to Walter and Agnes (Richendollar) Hord who preceded her in death.

Sheila graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1969. She had worked at Grady Memorial Hospital as a Switchboard Operator from 1989-2009 and was a homemaker most of her life, taking care of her family.

Sheila was the 4-H Advisor for the Porkers Club of Knox County for over 20 years as well as a member of the Mothers Club of Centerburg. She enjoyed attending sporting events, school activities, 4-H and FFA events for her grandchildren and family and was always there to support them.

On September 6, 1970, she married Ross Beard Heskett and he preceded her in death November 21, 2011.

Left to cherish Sheila's memory is her children: Heather (Randy) Clapham of Cardington, Shawn Heskett of Centerburg, Matthew (Bree) Heskett of Centerburg, and Bridget (Donovan "Trey") Whetnall of Marengo; nine grandchildren: Blake (Harlee Steck) Clapham, Brooklynn Clapham, Brady Jay Heskett, Makenna Heskett, Sage Whetnall, Bristol Whetnall, Korbin Berry, Keira Berry, and Kensely Ross Heskett; one great grandchild Blaklee Clapham, and her nephew Dan Hord.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sheila was preceded in death by her brother Walter "Buddy" Hord and sister Rhonda Gail Hord.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, at the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery.
