Ruth Ann George

Ruth Ann George, age 79, passed away while surrounded by her loving family, to join the Church Triumphant on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Friends Home in Greensboro, NC.
Ruth Ann was born in Dayton, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Lillian (Hutchinson) George on July 28, 1942.

She graduated from Cardington Lincoln High School in 1960 and attended Asbury University where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She earned a Master of Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She started her teaching career with the River Valley School District in Ohio, where she taught for ten years. In 1974, she moved to Greensboro, NC where she continued teaching until her retirement thirty-five years later. Ruth Ann enjoyed volunteering with Youth for Christ, her local church and the Guilford County Schools. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Covenant church and Alpha Delta Kappa, a sorority for women educators.

Ruth Ann loved to travel and had the opportunity to see many states throughout the US. She enjoyed reading and time spent at the beach. She especially cherished time connecting with family members and her many friends.

She will be missed by her siblings, Diane George, Wayne George (Barbara), Carl George, Carol Bush (Randy) and the special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly: Robert George (Natalie), Gavin and Allison; Robin Holtz (Jeffrey), Harrison and Aidan; Mandy Rocks (Jeff), Quillan; Cecil George (Jessica), Kiersen and Garrett; Trinity Martin (Steve), Gwendolyn, Evelyn, and Harper; Justin Bush (Clarissa), Jett, Jase and Jones, and Nathan Bush. She will also be missed by her extended family and many friends.

Her family will greet friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 26th at Gompf Funeral Home at 440 Center Street, Cardington, Ohio. A celebration of Ruth Ann's life will be held immediately following at 12:00pm with Dr. Marc Putnam officiating with the burial following at the Fulton Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church, 5200 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina 27410 on Sunday September 5, 2021 at 3pm.
