Ruth M. Faust, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 23, 2024. Born on December 31, 1931, to the late Alex and Lucille (Godfrey) Sours in Allen Center, Union County, Ohio, Ruth spent her life as a devoted homemaker, nurturing and caring for her family with unwavering love and support.
Ruth's warm spirit extended beyond her family. She was a long-time member of the Ladies Aid, where she shared her creative talents by making beautiful quilts for those in need and for missionaries. Her passions included painting on wood and china, crocheting, and cultivating a love for flowers. Ruth also enjoyed square dancing and cherished her fishing and camping trips to Canada, where she made lasting memories with family and friends.
On July 25, 1953, in Marion, Ruth married Henry Floyd Faust, who preceded her in death.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Sam Faust and Eric (Teresa) Faust; daughter, Suzanne (Tom) Kirby; and a loving group of grandchildren: Zach (Whitney) Faust, Dani (Ryan Fogel) Faust, Lindsey (Kurt Nelson) Faust, Laci (Matt Townsend) Faust, Kyle (Sarah) Kirby, Carrie Kirby, Clint Kirby, and Cole (Ashley) Kirby; six great-grandchildren; her sisters: Edna Mae Wilcox and Helen Louise Dunn. Each of them carries her legacy of kindness and creativity in their hearts.
Ruth Marie Faust will forever be remembered for her compassion, warmth, and the love she shared with those around her. She leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire, and she will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Alex Sours and Lucille Sours and her husband Henry Faust, as well as her sisters Cora Dell (Johnston) Pfister and Mary Ellen Carr.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at the funeral home at 10:30 AM with Celebrant LeAnne Gompf officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
