Roy Harold Underwood

On August 27, 2019 Roy Harold Underwood of Cardington passed away in his sleep at his residence. He was born on July 6, 1935 to the late Roy and Mable (Hagans) Underwood.

Roy was a career man dedicated to his work in the Oil field for 51 years. He worked for Ashland Oil for 31 years and worked with Fishburn Water and Oil for 19 years until he retired at the age of 80 in the year of 2015. Roy was an avid nature lover, gardener, hunter and fisherman. His love of his flowers, hummingbirds and his garden was shared by all the family.

On May 20, 1956, Roy married Nedra (Patterson) Underwood, spouse of 64 years, who survives in Cardington.

Surviving his death are his sister Patsy McKeee; 6 children: Lesley Kay Underwood Mattorano, Roy David (Barb)Underwood, Lynn Woodrow (Amy) Underwood, Patricia Ann Underwood (Mike) Miley, Stephanie Ray Underwood Smith, and Patrick Shayne (Patti) Underwood; and 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by grandchildren Jason Osborne and Joshua Underwood and a great-grandchild Angel, Daniel Nalepa.

Friends may call on, Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Cardington American Legion Post 97, 307 Park Street, Cardington, OH 43315. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 pm.
