Roy L. Hill Jr., age 81 of Marengo, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, in his home after a brief illness. He was born on November 11, 1939, in Columbus, OH to the late Roy L. Sr. & Ruth E. (Hanson) Hill.
Roy was a 1958 graduate of West High School. He started work at an early age running a paper route as a child. Roy had then gone on to sell cars at his parent's car dealership. After his time at the dealership, Roy drove a Semi-Truck over the road for a period of time and had owned a meat processing business. Roy found his niche about 40 years ago when he started Hill Equipment. The business started out as a farm equipment dealer and then transitioned into the building and selling of trailers, as many know the business to be today. Hill Equipment has 2 locations, one in Marengo and one in Richwood and has served many patrons over Roy's 40-year career.
Roy had served in the United States Marine Corp for 8 years until he was honorably discharged.
Roy was known as a kind and generous man and would do anything he could to help people out. He enjoyed purchasing bikes for children who could not afford their own. He also was a cat lover and had many cats himself. Roy also enjoyed helping various cat rescues financially over the years.
Left to cherish his memory is his special high school classmate, Karen Schmitt of Lewis Center; special friend, Cathy Hayes of Fredericktown; his employee's, friends, and faithful customers over the years.
A graveside service for Roy will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Fulton Cemetery with full military honors.
