Roy E. Copper, age 91 of Cardington passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at his home. He was born on September 2,1931 in Spencer, WV. to Roy and Edna (Starcher) Cooper who preceded him in death.
Roy was a 1949 graduate of Spencer High School. He went on to attain a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from West Virginia University and his masters in Vocational Agriculture from The Ohio State University. Roy was the FFA teacher at Highland High School for 31 years until his retirement. Roy served his country in the United States Army.
Roy was a member of the Christ the King Church. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and being outside. Roy owned a sheep farm named Coopers Dorset's, where he raised Dorset sheep. Roy loved West Virginia University Football and Basketball as well as the Boston Red Sox.
On October 12, 1973, Roy married Pamela (Hall) in Mansfield and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2020.
Roy is survived by his children Susan Hoffman of Marion, Eddie Cooper of Mount Gilead and Darlene Cooper of Washington, seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Cooper.
Friends may call on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 1:00 PM. Following the service, the burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery.
