Roderick A. Jenkins, age 82 of Cardington, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born on April 11, 1938 in Cardington to the late Orlando C. and Edna E (George) Jenkins.
Roderick was a 1958 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Whirlpool Corporation after 42 ½ years of service. Roderick played musical instruments, loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and cars. He was a collector of pianos and guns. Roderick never knew a stranger and cherished all that he met.
On August 15, 1961, Roderick married the love of his life, Phyllis Crampton and she survives. Other survivors include their children; Corinna (Rob) Jaggers, Roderick (Cassandra) Jenkins, Jr., Ray (Angela) Jenkins, and Rick (Ali) Jenkins; grandchildren, Casey (Josh) Somerlot, Michael (Molly McCracken) Cowles, Austin (Taylor) Jaggers, Aaron (Brittne Fields) Jenkins, Chesney Jenkins, Colton (Kylie Hipp) Jenkins, Brice Jenkins, Madi Hite, Holden Hite, and Tabi Carter; four great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Rodella (Don) Covert, Clive Jenkins, and Rozella (Jim) Rowland.
In addition to his parents, Roderick was preceded in death by his brother Dalton Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Jan. 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Marion Salem United Methodist Church, 1640 Salem Rd., Caledonia. The burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery with full military honors.
