Robert Bailey Obituary

Robert S. Bailey, beloved husband, father, brother, and veteran passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born on May 5, 1936, in Cardington to the late Henry F. and Mildred E. (Scott) Bailey. Robert leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Robert graduated from Edison High School in 1954, immediately after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving honorably in the Navy, Robert was very mechanical and joined his dad in Bailey's Body Shop. Later he was the dedicated and proud owner of Bailey Dodge from 1966 - 1979. He also owned Bailey Insurance until his retirement. He led an inspiring life filled with love, dedication, and service to his family, his country, and his community.

Robert attended North Woodbury Alliance Church. He was an avid bible reader and enthusiastic student of bible prophecy. He enjoyed volunteering with the "Over the Hill Gang" at Flying Horse Farms. Robert had a passion for gardening and woodworking, he designed and built all his flower beds, fishponds, and a Gazebo.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife Sheryl (Hoffman), who he married on September 30, 1962, in Marengo.

Robert's memory will forever live on through his children, Jim (Jamie) Bailey of Mount Gilead, Sabrina (Bernie) Bolha of Mount Gilead; five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother Richard Bailey.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Service, 440 Center Street, Cardington. Funeral service will directly follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Cory Schnuerer officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Worden Cemetery with full military honors.
