Rick Honaker Obituary
Rick R. Honaker, age 67 of Mount Gilead, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at Woodside Village in Mount Gilead. He was born on April 5, 1958, in Russell County, Virgina, to the late Perry L. Honaker and Juanita (Thompson) Comstock.
Rick grew up in Hilliard and was a 1977 graduate of Hilliard High School and was a lifelong truck driver. He was raised in the Freewill Baptist Faith and was currently attending the Cardington Community Methodist Church.
Rick was passionate about working on cars and could be found at the Columbus Motor Speedway where he raced stock cars.
On October 18, 2003, Rick married the former Cathy Bowman Hickman in Honaker, Va., and she survives in Mount Gilead.
In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by his children; Heather Honaker of Lucasville and Heath (Whitney) Honaker of Crestview, FL.; stepsons, Joel (Dawn) Hickman of Marengo and David (Sarah) Hickman of Cardington; grandchildren, Blain (Lexie) Honaker, Layla, and Knox Honaker, Morgan, Madison, Rogan, Evalie, Abby and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Ledger, Carson and Hadley; siblings, Charlotte Strawser, Brenda Schmidt, Ron (Betty) Honaker and Rob (April) Comstock; aunts, Mary Schaffer and Berta Thompson and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Gary Honaker and
stepfather Bob Comstock.
Friends may call on Sunday October 26, 2025, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Cardington Community Methodist Church, 300 South Marion Street in Cardington, with a Memorial Service directly starting at 4:00PM with Pastor John Carpenter officiating. The family welcomes anyone that attends to wear their favorite NASCAR or race shirt.
