Richard F. Yake, age 96 of Marion passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the Kobacher House. He was born on November 25, 1925, in Waldo to David F. and Minna J. (Mochel) Yake who preceded him in death.
Dick was a graduate of the Waldo class of 1943. Dick served in the United States Army during World War II. He had worked at Borden Dairy, Isley's Dairy, and Armco Steel. He later retired from GTE.
Dick was a member of St. John Lutheran Windfall Church. He loved remodeling and tinkering on things. He liked to garden and taking care of his yard. Richard had been a member of the Serenaders and Marionaires Barber Shop Chorus.
Dick is survived by his son, Tim (Darlene) Yake, his daughter Anne (Derek) Smith, grandchildren: Emily, Austin, and Alex and his sister Marilyn (Don) Wertz of Marion.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy (Curren) Yake, his second wife Sally (McGinnis) Yake, four brothers Clarence, Robert Donald, and George Yake and one sister Luella Thomas.
Friends may call on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Adam Sornchai officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Marion Cemetery.
