Richard Hughes Obituary

Richard A. Hughes, age 62, of Cardington died Wednesday Dec. 1, 2020.  He was born Sept. 16, 1958 to the late Leland and Myrtle (Myers) Hughes.

Richard was a self-employed mason with his company A-1 Masonry.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards and gambling, and watching sports and westerns on TV. Richard’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and making them happy. 

Survivors include his children, Sherry Hannah, Lora Hannah of Columbus, and Misty (Mark) Coyer of Groveport, eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Donnie (Velma) Meyers of Pickerington, Donna Guskey of Newark, Pamela Henry of Johnstown, Tina (Donald) Norris of Pataskala, and Michael (Deborah) Hughes of Kirkersville, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Hannah-Hughes; brothers, Mark and Jeffrey Hughes.

Friends may call on Friday Dec. 4, 2020 from noon until the start of the funeral service at 1:00PM at the Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington.  Richard’s burial will follow in the Jersey Township Cemetery in Pataskala.

In accordance with the Governor’s mandate, masks will now be required to enter the funeral home.
