Richard Phillip Baer

Richard Phillip "Rick" Baer, 70, of Staunton passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Baer was born in Shelby, Ohio on June 15, 1951, a son of the late Waldo F. and Martha (Cleland) Baer.

Richard was a long-time resident of Ohio and moved to Virginia in 1982. He worked at Virginia Panel from 1982 until 1990 and began working at Cerro Metals in 1991 and retired in 2013. Bowling was his passion and he bowled with his niece and bowling partner, Vickie Clausen in the Monday POO Senior League, Wednesday Senior League, and Friday Trio League as well as substituting in various other leagues. Richard enjoyed cooking for his family and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Indians.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Baer.

He is survived by his siblings, Priscilla Bowen of Verona, Virginia, Dolores Gillespie of Gulfport, Mississippi, Barbara Dormer and her husband, John of Kerrville, Texas, and Linda Maceyko of Cardington, Ohio; a son, Tyson Baer of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Darlene Baer and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place on Friday February 11, 2022, at 10:30 AM in the Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio.
