Rebecca Lynn (Gillespie) Kilgour

Rebecca L. Kilgour passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024; surrounded by her loving family and friends at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born on June 12, 1949, in Aberdeen, Maryland to the late John J. and Ardyth H. (Byers) Gillespie.

Becky attended Jackson High School, and was a resident of Mount Gilead for 48 years. She obtained her insurance license in 1978 and started working for Joseph Ball Insurance. Believing she could provide better customer service; she started her own agency in 1995. Kilgour's Insurance Store specialized in friendly, caring, and professional property and casualty insurance. Becky continued to sell insurance until her retirement in 2017, after 38 years in the insurance business.

After retirement, Becky pursued the things she was passionate about and stayed busy. Becky loved to travel. Years ago, she began her adventures, as the original DIVA with the Red Shoe DIVAS. She enjoyed many trips with the Senior Center and the Happy Wanderers group. Becky also enjoyed spending time with her Red Hat ladies. She always looked forward to helping others within the community through her association with Gleaners Life: Chester Arbor friends. Becky enjoyed staying physically active too. For many years, she participated in Tai Chi classes at the Senior Center and was a member at Curves. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cardington and most recently attended the Church of Christ in Mount Gilead.

Left to cherish Becky's memory are her children: Shannon (Chris) Williams of Centerburg and Jeff (Christy Frost) Kilgour of Bucyrus; three grandchildren: Chance (Jade Coulter) Kilgour of Bardstown, KY. Paige (Donnie) Crow of Centerburg, and Deanna Kilgour of Perrysville; one great-grandchild, Tobias Minor of Hartsville, TN; one brother, Eric (Maureen) Gillespie of Memphis, TN.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 13th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cardington. A brief service honoring her memory will begin at 2 pm, with hors d'oeuvres to follow. Becky will be missed greatly; she was a beautiful soul.
