Raymond A. Garner, age 69 of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on February 2, 1956, in Fort Stewart, Georgia to the late James R. and Arlene C. (Willey) Garner.
Raymond was a 1976 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. Following his graduation, he dedicated many years of his life to working as a truck driver, where he built a reputation for his reliability, skill, and hard work.
In his free time, Raymond found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing at his favorite spots or just tinkering with things around the yard. His two dogs, Diesel and Dozer, were constant companions, and he cherished the time he spent with them.
On May 31, 2003, Raymond married Joyce Ann (Stambaugh) at the Delaware State Park, she survives in Mount Gilead.
In addition to his wife Joyce, Raymond is survived by his stepson Michael (Rachel) Bush of Marion; grandson Junior; his siblings: Richard (Trish) Garner of Lexington, Paul (Vicky) Garner of Georgia, James Lingrel of Texas, and Pam Garner of Cardington; his sister-in-law Jane (Don) Dudley of Mount Gilead, sister-in-law Ginny Rocky of St. Louisville, brother-in-law Lawrence Stambaugh of Westerville, and brother-in-law Jerry (Collen) Stambaugh of Centerburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his two brothers Michael Garner and Bill Lingrel and his best friend Jamie Taylor.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. A private burial will take place at a later date.
