Phyllis Monticue Obituary

Phyllis Lee Monticue, age 84 of Delaware, died on Monday January 30, 2023. She was born on March 11, 1938, in Delaware, OH to parents Agnes (Nelson) and Dorrance "Butch" Young.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Mary Ann Lee of Columbus, her brother Richard Young of Sunbury, her son Steve (Maureen) Sheets of Delaware, and daughter Erin (Eric) Jones of Marengo. Grandchildren include Jason (Leslie) Matthews of Marion, Jonathan Sheets of Delaware, and Christopher Sheets of Delaware, OH. Great grandchildren include Sebastion and Tateum Sheets, Jackson and Jillian Matthews, and Daxton Sheets.

Phyllis was proceeded in death by her husband Phillip, both her parents, and her grandson Jesse Matthews.

For those who knew Phyllis, she served over 50 years as an out-spoken spunky nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio, with most of that time spent in the Emergency Room. She enjoyed country living in her log cabin with her beloved Phil, sipping iced tea on the front porch, and listening to country music. Besides her love of any and all animals, she was proud to have rescued many dogs in her lifetime, from Basset hounds to Labrador retrievers. Phil and Phyllis raised quarter horses for many years as well in Delaware, known as PMP Quarter Horses.

Per Phyllis' wishes a quiet family-only service will be held at the Troy Township Cemetery at a later date. Gompf Funeral Home of Cardington is honored to have been chosen to assist the family during this difficult time.
