Phyllis May (Jeanette) Eckard

Phyllis M. Eckard, age 92 of Cardington, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021, surrounded by her family at Promedica of Marion. She was born on May 28, 1929, to Joseph Benjamin and Sally (Booker) Jeanette who preceded her in death.

Phyllis was a homemaker and a member of the Harmony Baptist Church where she faithfully attended. She enjoyed finding four leaf clovers and painting rocks for little kids. She liked to make fudge and candies. She took delight in preparing the children's crafts for Vacation Bible School as well as teaching the Primaries Sunday School Class. Phyllis was often known as the "Joke Lady", always having a joke ready to share. She was a lover of animals especially cats and dogs. Phyllis was very involved with the kids, helping with school projects and the Athletic Boosters.

On February 16, 1946, Phyllis married Ralph Eckard in Greenup, KY., who preceded her in death on December 25, 1998.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Terril Cimino of Galion and Terry (Mary) Eckard of Mount Gilead; nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Robert Eckard, four brothers, Joseph, Richard, Robert, and Donald Jeanette, two sisters, Mary "Sue" Garn and Darlene Nighswander.

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Glendale Union Cemetery with Pastor Jason Martin officiating.
