Norma Zwick Obituary


Norma Jean Zwick, age 79 of Mount Gilead, died on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 3, 1942, in New Philadelphia to the late Paul F. and Ruth C. (Hall) Hilverding.

Jean was a graduate of Skyvue High School in Stafford, Ohio. She had gone on to work as a branch manager for the First Knox National Bank until retirement.

On November 25, 1961, in Harriesttsville, Jean married John E. Zwick and they spent 60 wonderful years of marriage together raising their two girls.

Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Gilead and loved to read her bible. She enjoyed quilting and made several throughout her years, she also enjoyed gardening. Christmas time was always a special time spent with family and making Christmas Candy with them. Jean always enjoyed watching sports but especially loved to support The Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams as well as the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees. Jean supported her grandsons in all their endeavors athletically and most recently enjoyed spending her time with the great-grandchildren.


Left to cherish Jean's memory is her husband, John Zwick of Mount Gilead; two daughters: Gail (Denny) West and Gerry (Marv) Hartman, both of Mount Gilead; two siblings: Robert Hilverding of Stafford and Karen Fortney of Lower Salem; nine brother's and sister's in law: Joan Huck, Elaine Lang, Charles Zwick, Donald Zwick, Marlene Tornes, Sandra Harris, Joe Zwick, Roger Zwick and David Zwick; five grandsons: Evan (Lauren), Eli (Hannah) Hartman and AJ (Emily), Branson and Camden West; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Patrick Zwick, and George Zwick.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 3:00-7:00PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 10:30AM at the First Baptist Church, 51 West High Street, Mount Gilead, Ohio 43338, with Pastor Jeff Hubschman and Dr. Roger Morris officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Bryn Zion Cemetery.
