Nancy Ann (Bennett) Ray

Nancy A. Ray, age 76 of Mount Gilead passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, unexpectedly. She was born to Neil and Regina (Levings) Bennett in Marion, Ohio on July 21, 1945.

Nancy graduated from Highland High School in 1963, which was the first class to graduate from Highland. Nancy worked at Whetstone and then Farmstead until she retired in 2013.

Nancy loved watching hummingbirds, scratch off lottery tickets, Bingo, reading and listening to her Bible on tape. Her dog Dallas was her shadow.

She married Robert (Bob) Ray Sr. in 1965 and they lived in Marengo, Ohio. Together they raised 5 children: Robert (Bobby) Ray, Becky Graham (Steve), Dee Pennington (Junior), Ronnie Ray (Kathy), and Donnie Ray (Lori). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Gary Bennett, Shirley Henson, and Judy Davis (Art).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Regina, her husband Bob, and her brothers Dickie, George, Danny, Neil (Butch) Jr. and her stepson Steven.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 10:00 to 12:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with the funeral service following at 12:00pm with Pastor Brendan Kennedy officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Marengo Cemetery.
