Myrtle Irene (Sheets) Doty

Myrtle Irene Doty, age 88 of Cardington passed away July 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 12, 1937, in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Homer and Helen (Sharp) Sheets.

Myrtle was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for her husband and their three sons, creating a loving home for her family. She was also a faithful member of Cardington Nazarene Church.

Myrtle enjoyed playing bingo, working word puzzle books, and watching The Waltons and John Wayne movies on television. She also found great joy in birdwatching, especially when she would see owls and cardinals.

On September 9, 1954, Myrtle married Franklin D. Doty in Cardington. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2008.

Myrtle is survived by their sons: Charles Doty, Dale Doty and Neal (Jennifer Good) Doty all of Cardington as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by her two brothers, Lewis and George Sheets; her sisters, Edna Mae McCarty Relva VanBuren and Nora Wells; and her daughter-in-law, Renee Doty.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 10, 2026, at the funeral home at 10:00 AM with Pastor Bob Hess officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery.

Myrtle's family request that donations in her memory go to the Bierce Family, C/O Gompf Funeral Service, 440 Center Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315, who recently lost their home to a house fire.
