Merrill Miller Obituary

Merrill J. Miller, age 87 of Marion passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 5, 1938, to the late Joseph L. and Leona M. (Yake) Miller.

Merrill served in the United States Army from 1957 - 1959 and was called back in 1962 for the Cuban Missile Crisis. He had worked at Glen-Gery Brick in Caledonia and was a dedicated farmer who found joy in simple, hard work of raising crops and chickens. Merrill was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Windfall.

On February 29, 1996, Merrill married Linda (Stayner) Sheppard in Marion. She survives in Marion.

In addition to his wife Linda, Merrill is survived by their children: Theresa (Jack) Keefe of Toledo, Terrill (Angie) Miller of Waldo, Timothy (Jennifer) Miller of Jamestown, Pennsylvania, Traci Annamarie (James) DePrey of Waldo, Theodore (Jennifer) Miller of Waldo, Matt Sheppard (Trisha) of Marion, Mark Sheppard (Tracy) of Waldo, and Beth Sheppard of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren: Renee (Matt) Adkins, Patrick (Naush) Keefe, Trevor (Stephanie) Miller, Kallie Dzubak, Colt Tanner, Taylor (Corey) White, Evon (Haley) DePrey, Nathan (Trudy) DePrey, Lydia DePrey, Carson Miller, Cooper Miller, and Bailey (Jeff) May; thirteen great-grandchildren: Zora Adkins, Findley Keefe, Alina Keefe, Symon Dzubak, Hunter Miller, Zachary Miller, Boone Miller, Graham White, Lyla White, Delaney May, Jonas May , Arya May, and Matilda May.

In addition to his parents, Merrill was preceded in death by his sister Mary M. Harris.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, where a time of sharing and reflection to honor Merrill's life will begin at 5:00 PM.
