Matthew "Matt" Meyers Obituary

Matthew "Matt" L. Meyers, age 52 of Marion passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on October 1, 1973, to the late Stan and R. Ruth (Myles) Meyers.

Matt was a 1992 graduate of Lexington High School and the Pioneer Career Center. Following high school, he attended the police academy through North Central State College. He proudly served with the Lexington Police Department and the Cardington Police Department, and in 2013 he retired from the Morrow County Sheriff's Office, where he worked as patrol officer and bailiff for several years. After retirement, Matt continued his career locally, working at Carsner True Value Hardware in Cardington.

Matt was a family man before anything else. His wife and children meant the world to him, and he loved spending time with each of them. He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to give those he loved a hard time in the most lighthearted ways. Matt had a way of filling the room with laughter, using his teasing nature to bring smiles to those around him. An avid sports fan, he also loved cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and of course The Ohio State Buckeyes. Matt enjoyed working around the yard, taking pride in caring for his home.

On September 6, 1997, Matt married the former Jackie (Breckner) in Cardington. The two first met while Matt was serving as a police officer in Cardington and Jackie was working for EMS. From that first spark, their love for each other grew. Jackie survives at their home in Marion.

In addition to his wife, Matt is survived by his two children, Zach (Emma Marshall) Meyers and Camrie (Bentley Conley) Meyers, both of Cardington; mother-in-law Christie Breckner of Cardington; sister-in-law, Katie and Colin Hansen of Cardington; brothers-in-law Kelly and Nora Breckner of Hilliard and Jeff Breckner and Noelle Gravely of Cardington; and nieces and nephews Gabe, Griffin, Ellee, Maliah, Jarin, and Nolan.

In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by his father-in-law Steve Breckner.
