Mary Ann Klein, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, age 91 of Fredericktown passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 9, 1933, in Reynoldsburg, OH to the late Phillip S. and Mary K. (Millar) Shannon.
Mary Ann graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1951 and went on to be a dedicated desk clerk at the post office in New Albany, where her warmth and friendliness made her a beloved figure in the community. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in New Albany, where she made lasting friendships that spanned the years.
Mary Ann had a passion for genealogy, spending hours tracing her lineage and sharing her discoveries with relatives. Her passion extended to her beautiful garden, where she found joy in nurturing plants. A true animal lover, she cherished her pets and always made sure they received the same love and care she provided for her family. Mary Ann was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds fan. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, whom she adored. She devoted countless hours to creating special memories with them, often taking them to the state park for summer projects and cheering them on at their sporting events.
On May 5, 1952, she married Carl W. Klein in Gahanna, OH, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2001.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Jo Anne (Richard) Myers of Johnstown, and son Andy (Sharon) Klein of Festus, MO; grandchildren Amanda (Jonathan) Thompson, Lisa (Jesse) Myers, and Carl Myers; great-grandchildren Aubrey (Jon) Edelblute, Clayton (Bry) Clark, Lilyan (Rory) Clark, and Cicely Myers; great-great-grandson Kyson Haines; and sister Helen "Peggy" Anstaett.
