Mary Lou Graff, age 67, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lamara and Eugene Ambler surrounded by family. She was born on July 13, 1955, to Helen Stiverson Downs Thompson. Mary Lou graduated from Marion Harding High School. She graduated from Marion Technical College with an associate degree in business. During her lifetime she worked as a store manager for Hart's Department Stores and Goodwill Industries. She retired from Marion Area Transit where she was a bus driver after becoming an accredited Class C CDL driver.
Mary Lou was an artist and loved to oil paint and draw. She enjoyed attending Tai Chi classes with her friends. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and family. She loved life and lived it fully. She was a strong woman and put up a good fight while battling cancer. She was always willing to give you a smile.
She is survived by her daughters, Lamara (Eugene) Ambler and Lizabeth (Dalton) White; five grandchildren, Addison, Eliza, Lola, Alice, and Logan; one brother, John (Vicki) Thompson; one sister, Annette (David) Brammell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her mother and two brothers, Glenn Downs, and Harley Downs and two foster sisters, Alice Vallance and Mary Miller preceded her passing.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Ambler residence. For location information, please contact Lamara at lamaraambler@gmail.com A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, October 3, 2022, at The LaRue Cemetery.
