Marvin C. Heimlich, age 88 of Marion died Monday, October 11, 2021, at his home. He was born on July 30, 1933, to Wilbert and Gertrude (Lehner) Heimlich who preceded him in death.
Marvin graduated from Cardington High School in 1951. After graduation Marvin joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably. He worked for Isaly-Smith Dairy Company for 38 years before retiring.
Marvin loved woodworking and had helped his father build the home that now stands on the family farm. He also liked farming. Marvin had rental homes and enjoyed maintaining them over the years. Marvin enjoyed golfing especially when he found more golf balls than he lost. Marvin was known for three things: big heart, big smile, and big hands.
On November 17, 2001, he married Ann (Boger) Goodman in Waldo, who survives in Marion.
In addition to his wife, Marvin is survived by his children Michael (Betsy) Heimlich of Powell and Julie (Mark) Kohler of Marion, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, his sister Clara McClenathan of Cardington and his brother Junior Heimlich of Cardington, his extended family: Lynn (Diane) Goodman and family of Cardington, Becky (Bill) Franco and family of Cardington, Bill (Vicky) Goodman and family of Cardington, Gary (Karen) Goodman and family of Cardington, Doug (Bobie) Goodman and family of Marengo.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by the mother of his children, his first wife Rose (Milligan) Heimlich, his second wife Vivianne (Green) Heimlich, and his two brothers Richard and Ernest Heimlich.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 15, 2021, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at 11:00 am with Pastor Steven Dennis officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Prospect Cemetery with full military honors.
