Martha Lua (Philbrook) Jividen

Martha Lua Jividen, age 90 of Cardington passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Kobacker House. She was born on July 29, 1935, in Cardington, Ohio to the late Ralph N. and Alma L. (Dawson) Philbrook

Martha earned her master's in education and had work for Cardington-Lincoln Schools as a teacher. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Morrow County Historical Society, as well as a member of Gilead Friends Church. Martha in her free time enjoyed crocheting, genealogy and writing.

Martha married James Leo Short and he preceded her in death. Martha met and married George William Jividen on May 21, 2005, and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2015.

Martha is survived by nephew Michael (Trisha) Philbrook of Cardington and their children Hannah (Ethan) Hrynkow, Rachel, Sarah and Joel Philbrook; as well as her niece Lorra Huffman of Gallipolis and her children.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her first husband James Short, her second husband George Jividen and her two brothers Robert and Harold Philbrook.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with the funeral directly starting at 2:00 PM with Dr. Wayne Evans officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in Rivercliff Union Cemetery.
