Mark Allen Schrote passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Marion General Hospital in Marion, OH. Mark was born on August 5, 1954, at Morrow County Hospital to the late Urban W. Schrote and Mildred L. (Klingel) Schrote of Marion, Ohio.
Mark married Valerie Joy McKinniss on April 28,1984 at Peace Community United Church, Waldo. They were blessed with two sons, Evan Mark Schrote in 1986 and Brian Allen Schrote in 1989.
Mark was a 1972 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School where he was active in the Cardington FFA and was a member of the Cardington FFA Farm Association. He was employed at Whirlpool retiring in 2016 after 43 years. Mark was raised on a dairy farm in Marion County and continued to grain farm throughout his adult life with his sons, Evan and Brian.
He was a member of Marion Salem Global Methodist Church.
Mark is survived by his wife, Valerie. Sons, Evan (Michelle) Schrote of Kiowa, CO. and Brian (Tereasa) Schrote, Marion, OH. The Light of his Life was their Grandchildren, Aiva Chevelle and Haisley Reign Schrote, Kiowa, CO and Justin Allen and Elijah Franklin Schrote, Marion, OH.
He will be missed by his Mother-in-law, Donna McKinniss, Caledonia, OH, Brothers & Sisters- in- laws, Ernie and Eldonna McKinniss, Edison, OH and Vicki Adams & Rick Bingley of Marion, OH. A brother, nieces and nephews and best friend Frank McCombs. Mark loved border collies and he will be missed by his border collie, Ziva.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Schrote, nephew, Dwayne Schrote, Father-in-law Larry McKinniss.
Friends may call on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Marion Salem Church, 1640 Salem Road, Caledonia, Ohio 43314, with the Celebration of Life starting at 4:00PM.
