Mark E. LaVenia Sr., age 61 of Marion lost his twelve plus years battle with Crohn's Disease Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Marion General Hospital surround by his family. He was born on August 3, 1960, to Gus A. Lavenia and Jeneane L. (Townsand) Jackson.
Mark was a 1979 graduate of Harding High School. He had worked construction in Florida, and Ohio. Mark then went on to work for ConAgra formally Golden Valley Microwave Foods for over 20 years as a Shipping Supervisor.
Mark enjoyed going fishing, working on and taking his Oldsmobile 442 to car shows with his uncle Frank LaVenia. Mark loved his family, and cherished spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Mark was a member of the Flywheels Car Club in Marion.
On March 7, 1992, Mark married Sandra "Annie" M. Hendricks in Green Camp, they spent 33 years together until she preceded him in death on November 24, 2009.
Mark is survived by his mother Jeannie (Frank) Jackson of Green Camp, his daughter April (Andrew) Davis of Caledonia, his sons, Ty LaVenia of Marion and Mark (Jorden) LaVenia of Marion; grandchildren: Ashton, Aaliyah, and AnneMarie Davis, Karder LaVenia, Gatlin, Bristen and Kaizley LaVenia; his siblings: Darrell (Margaret) LaVenia, Frank (Helen) LaVenia of Marion, Robin (Buzz) Keaton of Marion; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong best friend Mike Hollaway and special friend Debra Stallings.
In addition to his father Gus LaVenia and his wife Annie, Mark was preceded in death by his nephew Timmy LaVenia.
Friends may call on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Terry Garrett officiating. A private graveside burial will take place at a later date. Mark was casual guy, and his wishes was that everyone come in casual attire.
