Marilyn Lee Smith

Marilyn L. Smith, age 81 of Mount Gilead passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Avita Galion Hospital. She was born on March 6, 1942, in Morrow County to the late Paul M. and Margaret A. (McCloskey) Smith.

Marilyn graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1960. She then went on to be a supervisor at the United Telephone Company and later retired from Century Link.

Marilyn had worked for several years for the Morrow County Board of Elections. She liked arguing with family members about politics and watching sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed watching her niece and nephew's sporting events and activities, chatting on the phone, as well as crafting and sewing in her younger years. Marilyn adored her dogs. She loved to bake, her red cake and sugar pies were her families' favorites.

Marilyn is survived by her two brothers Tom (Linda) Smith of Lewis Center and Robert (Nancy) Smith of Mount Gilead, Rebecca (Jon) Leuthold of Powell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Levering and her brother Carl Smith.

Friends may call on Monday June 19, 2023, from 4:00- 6:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Service, 440 Center Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315.
