Lowell Clayton Brandum Sr, age 89 of Cardington died Monday, September 20, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 10, 1931, to L. Dayton and Thelma (McPeek) Brandum who preceded him in death.
Clayton was a 1949 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School. He was a Carpenter and a farmer. Clayton enjoyed playing cards (euchre) at the senior center, spending time with his family, fishing, vegetable gardening and wintering in Florida.
On October 6, 1950, Clayton married Thelma Marie Ruggles in Russel, KY., who preceded him in death on June 5, 2011.
Clayton is survived by his son Robert "Doc" (Karolyn) Brandum of Cardington, his daughter Cathy Hayes of Fredericktown, daughter-in-law Betty Brandum of Cardington, and companion Ruth Harshner, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, Clayton was preceded in death by his son Lowell "Junior" Brandum Jr., daughter Debbie Ellis, and sisters Winnie Foster and Dorothy Landford.
Friends may call on Monday September 27, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Tuesday September 28, 2021, at the funeral home at 10:30 am with Pastor Darryl Moody officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
