Lowell Louis Levering

Lowell Louis Levering, age 94 of Cardington, died peacefully at his home on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born on February 12, 1930, in Fulton to the late Ralph L. and Mildred A. (Patterson) Levering.

Louis was a 1948 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School. After high school, Louis started Levering Brother's Plumbing services which stayed in business for over 50 years. He enjoyed working alongside his brothers: Loren, Gene, Dale, and Frank and at one point the company employed 28 people.

Louis was a member of the Cardington Community Methodist Church. In his free time, Louis enjoyed hunting and fishing and had taken several trips to Canada to hunt Moose and fish.  Louis loved to fly and had his pilot licenses and would fly himself into Canada on many hunting and fishing expeditions.  He also enjoyed bowling in his younger years. Louis's most treasured free time though was the time he spent with his family over the years.

On March 10, 1948, in Greenup, KY Louis married Ruth J. (Clinage) and they spent 71 years together until she passed on July 12, 2019.

Left to cherish Louis are his two children: Bonnie (Dick) Carsner and Dan (Marsha) Levering, both of Cardington; two brothers: Eugene and Dale Levering; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Louis was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Levering and brothers, Loren and Frank Levering.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Chaplin Tom Schwinn officiating. Following the service the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
