Kent Marlow Jones

Kent M. Jones, age 85 of Galion, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1935 in Cardington to the late Kenneth F. and Mildred N. (Keifer) Jones. 

Kent was a 1954 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School.  Kent joined the US Army where he was stationed in Alaska. After the army, Kent worked for Power Equipment in Galion, followed by The Ford Garage in Galion as a mechanic until it closed. Then he worked at Elliott Machine in Galion until retirement.

On January 22, 1961 in Cardington, Kent married Joye Joan (Doty) and she preceded him in death on February 28, 1996. 

Kent loved making homemade wine and beer and sharing it with his family. He enjoyed cutting wood and working on all things mechanical. He was very mechanically inclined. Kent always kept the family car in immaculate condition. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially around the holidays.

Left to cherish Kent’s memory are his 4 children: Michael (Terri) Castor, Daniel Doty, both of Bucyrus, Richard (Diana) Jones, and David (Jodie) Jones both of Galion; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, Kent was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Anne Faulkner.

The family will hold a private service with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. The burial will follow in the Glendale Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Kent’s love for his pets, memorial contributions can be made to the Crawford County Humane Society. Contributions can also be made to Southern Care Hospice of Ontario or the American Cancer Society.
