Kenneth was a 1950 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. After graduation he served faithfully in the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry, also known as the "The Old Guard" where he had the honor of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He was also honored to be a part of performing military funerals at Arlington Cemetery until his honorable discharge. He worked for McMillan Feed, North American Aviation and HPM Corp. He was a lifelong member of the St. John Windfall Lutheran Church where he served on church council for many years. Kenneth was known for donating to many charities, so much so his mailbox was always full of requests.
Kenneth was a family man; he enjoyed weekend trips with his wife, children and grandchildren to Mohican. Most of all he loved caring for his wife over the years. In his free time he would spend countless hours outside gardening, fishing, and walking his dog. When he wasn't outside you could find him watching and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.
On May 22, 1954, Kenneth married the love of his life Shiley (Klingel) at St. Paul Lutheran Church, she survives in Cardington.
In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by their children: Steve Ackerman of Prosect, Terry (Ida Mooney) Ackerman of Marion and Denise (Bob Franks) Crothers of Cardington; his grandchildren, Zachary (Tiffany Gordon) and Marcus Crothers, Justine, Hannah, Ian, and Benjamin Ackerman.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister Esther Cobourn and brothers Robert and Carl Ackerman.
