Kathie Sue (Gompf) Prince

Kathie S. Prince, beloved sister, mother, and grandmother passed away Tuesday March 12, 2024, at Bennington Glen in Marengo, she was 77. Kathie was born on January 9, 1947, in Mount Gilead to the late Richard D. and Marilyn M. (Rice) Gompf.

Kathie graduated from Mount Gilead High School and received her Horticulture Certification from Tri-Rivers in 1979. She had worked as a florist and at the Morrow County Hospital in the registration department.

Kathie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was dedicated to her family and her community. She spent many years as a Girl Scout leader and volunteer and a Boy Scout leader. After spending many years as a member of the 4-H club Happy Hemstitchers, founded by her mother, Marilyn Gompf, she went on to become their leader for many more years. She was a part of the group founding Snuggled in Hope Quilts that benefited the Flying Horse Farm in Mount Gilead. She was a member of the Mount Gilead Quilt Club, and the Lions Club. She had many pastimes that she loved including flowers, quilting with her friends and family, sewing, cooking, and reading.

Kathie is survived by her children: Lori (Todd) Wernicke of Cincinnati, Tobbi (Shawn) Justice of Pasadena, MD., Carrie Acker of Berlin, WI., and Andy Prince of Cardington; four grandchildren: Simone (Trent) Walters of Glen Burnie, MD., Sidney Seitz of Cardington, Amelia Justice of Pasadena, MD., and Haley Acker of Berlin, Wi., and her siblings Phil (Brenda) Gompf of Cardington, Chris (Jan) Gompf of Cardington, David Gompf of Mount Gilead, and Kim Meadows of Mansfield; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Steven Dennis officiating.
