Judith C. Greenawalt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, age 74 of Galion, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 11, 1951, in Letart, West Virginia, to the late Tracy J. and Mildred J. (Franks) Short.
Judy dedicated over 30 years of her life as a housekeeper at Woodside Village Care Center until her retirement. She touched the lives of countless individuals with her kindness and compassion.
Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking trips with her kids and spending time with her sister. She had a love for animals and loved to play with her dogs. Judy would often take in rescue dogs, creating a warm and loving home for them.
On February 1, 1969, Judy married William E. Greenawalt at Harmony Baptist Church, and they spent 41 years of marriage together. William preceded her in death on March 21, 2010.
Left to cherish Judy's memory are her children: James (Chris) Greenawalt of Cardington, William (Stacey) Greenawalt Jr. of South Carolina, Kathy (Jeff) Powell of Mount Gilead, and Connie (Jeff) Levings of Caledonia; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Christy Short of Cardington.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Judy was preceded in death by her brothers: Tracy Jr., George, Gordon, Michael, and Robert Short.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to until the time of the funeral service that will start at 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with Pastor Jay Weaver officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
