Joshua Nathan Smith Sr.

Joshua N. Smith Sr., beloved son, father, and brother, age 41 of Mount Gilead passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on August 19, 1983, in Columbus, Ohio to Gary W. Smith and Polly K. (Robinson) Delong.

Joshua was a 2002 graduate of Highland High School. He was a mechanic and carpenter; most would say he was a jack of all trades. He had worked with his brother at NMS Construction.

Joshua was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed puzzles, card games and playing Mario Kart. Joshua loved the solitude of the back 40 and would spend hours in his thoughts and taking in the beauty of nature.

Joshua is survived by his mother, Polly (Dennis) Delong; his children: Joshua Smith Jr. of Columbus, William Smith of Ashley, Adyson Smith of Delaware, Torri Medeiros of Galion, and Elijah Seitz of Mount Gilead; one grandchild on the way; his brothers: Nicholas Smith of Mount Gilead and Shawn Robinson of Centerburg; as well as his nieces and nephews: Destiny and James Smith and Audrey and Justin Robinson.

Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Gary Smith.

Friends may call on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington.
