Joseph "Dominic" DiNiro, age 79 of Cardington passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Presidential Post Acute in Marion. He was born on December 22, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Patrick J. and Emma (Moffo) Pitts.
Dominic was a skilled machinist who dedicated much of his life to hard work and craftsmanship. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1971, a period that shaped his strong sense of discipline and duty. A passionate and vocal Republican, Dominic enjoyed engaging in political discussions and advocating for his beliefs. Outside of his professional and political life, he had a deep love for muscle cars and could often be found tinkering on various projects, always seeking ways to improve or restore them.
Dominic is survived by his son Marcus (Michelle) Pitts of Sunnyvale, Ca, and one grandson Brandon Pitts of CA.
In addition to his parents, Dominic was preceded in death by his two brothers Jeff and John Pitts.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with the funeral service directly following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dale Baker officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
