Johnny P. Kearns, age 76 of Cardington passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Kenton Nursing Home. He was born on September 19, 1945, in McGuffey, Ohio to Alva A. and Mary A. (Keller) Kearns who preceded him in death.
Johnny had worked for Fishburn Industries until retirement.
Johnny loved hunting, horses and being on his farm. Over the years he competed in barrel racing, team penning, and harness horse racing. His most memorable win was during the Delaware County Fair last year on his birthday surrounded by family. Through his hobbies, he made many close friends that he considered family. He was a member of the United States Trotters Association.
Johnny is survived by his children: Jennifer (Charles) Plummer of Galion, Jacqueline (James) Tupps of Mount Gilead, and Jason (Shannon) Kearns of Ontario, Ohio; his grandchildren: Jane (Mitch) Daulton, Chad Plummer, Allison Tupps, Andrew Tupps, Reagan Kearns, Adrienne Kearns, and Dane Kearns; his brother Lloyd (Donna) Kearns of Marengo and his sisters: Karen Boggs of Marengo, Connie Payne of Ashley, and Kathie (Chris) Henwood of Fredericktown; and his brother-in-law Doug Hollingsworth.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his daughter Jessica Kearns, brothers Larry and Kenneth Kearns, his sister Carol Hollingsworth, his sister-in-law Vicki Kearns, and his brother-in-law Rex Payne.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington.
