John Lyle Obituary

John Michael Lyle passed away on October 11, 2025, in Waterford, Maine, at the age of 69. Born on March 1st, 1956, in Mansfield, Ohio to John C. and Betty J. (Keller) Lyle. John spent his life bringing joy to others through his wit and his woodworking talents.

John was a man of many talents. As a student, his artwork frequently advanced to state competitions in Columbus. He played high school football for long time Coach Paul (Bear) Bremigan who claimed to have helped raise John and many of his players. John graduated from Mt. Gilead High School in the Class of 1974. He then entered the U.S. Army for a 4-year term. Following his enlistment, he briefly moved back to Mt. Gilead. In the spring of 1979 John relocated to Florida, where he worked at an orange grove. While there his mother and brothers would always enjoy the annual Christmas Present of a box of fresh oranges. He later put his talents to work as a finish carpenter, a trade he worked in for many years. As a hobby John enjoyed building desks, bookshelves, OSU Bird Houses, chess sets, and other board games for friends and family. He enjoyed making flag boxes and donated them to families of Military Veterans who had passed away.

John had a fun and loveable side but also a bullish side to him, that’s what made John who he was.

John is survived by his brothers, Ric (Suzi) Lyle of Mt. Gilead and Tom (Theresa) Lyle of Enon, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, his beloved Aunt Jeanne Lyle and good friends Jason and Rebecca Simmons of Waterford, Maine.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Lyle and brothers Daniel Lyle and David Lyle.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider donating to Andwell Health Partners, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, Maine, 04240-5941.
