Joe Laney, age 81 of Danville, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 4, 1944, in River, Kentucky to the late Dave and Mae (Smith) Laney.
Joe was a hardworking and skilled craftsman who dedicated his life to various trades. Throughout his career, he worked as a bricklayer, a foundry worker, and a locomotive welder, mastering each craft with precision and pride. Outside of work, Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly hunting and fishing, which brought him peace and joy.
On March 22, 2000, Joe married Johnnie (Stephens) Laney in Boons Camp, Kentucky, she survives.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his daughter Vicky Anderton of Danville, four grandchildren: Travis Parson, Joshua Parson, Victoria Smith, and Faith Keneda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife Wanda Laney, his brothers: Hobert, Ed, Dave, James, Robert "Bob", and Wade Laney; and his sisters: Cordilly, Mary Ann, and Daisy.
A graveside service for Joe will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Mount Hope Cemetery. 2540 Noble Road West, Shiloh , Ohio 44878.
