Jesse John Matthews

Jesse John Matthews, age 33 of Cardington, died unexpectedly Sunday 12, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 18, 1988, in Delaware, Ohio to parents Joseph Matthews and Erin (Sheets) Jones who survive.

Jesse was a very accomplished self-employed carpenter, but most importantly he was a very talented musician and song writer, because music was his life.

Jesse is survived by his parents Erin (Eric) Jones of Marengo, Joseph (Becky) Matthews of Ashley, his brother Jason (Leslie) Matthews of Marion. Other family includes his paternal grandma Marge Matthews of Delaware, maternal grandparents Phil (Phyllis) Monticue of Delaware, Judy Sheets of GA, his aunts Carla Matthews of Delaware, Lisa Lawrence of Delaware, uncles Steve (Gale) Matthews of Ostrander, and Steve (Maureen Doyle) Sheets of Westerville.

Jesse was preceded in death by both grandfather's John Matthews and Richard Sheets.

Per Jesse's wishes, no formal services will be held. Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington is honored to have been chosen to assist the Matthew's family.

Jesse said, "I'd rather spend my life close to the birds than waste it wishing I had wings".
