Janice Louise Maples, age 91 of Montana passed away Tuesday July 5, 2022, at Riverside Hospital. She was born on August 23, 1930, in Westfield, Ohio to Charles W. and Mabel L. (Breece) Shults who preceded her in death.
Janice was a graduate of Ashley High School. She had worked in Alaska as Director of Job Development, Director of Field Services for Fairfield County Community Action, and was ordained in the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
On January 20, 1950, Janice married Richard E. Maples Jr at Ashley United Methodist Church in Ashley, Ohio, who preceded her in death.
Left to cherish Janice’s memory are her children: Sherry (Carl) Waibel, Karen Schroeder, Daniel (Laurie) Maples, and Laura (Fred) Hirth; fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her siblings Jack Shults, and Lonnie (Lois) Shults.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by two sons, Kirk Maples and Richard Maples III, and her sister Rheda Watts.
Friends may call on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Ashley United Methodist Church, 214 E. High Street, Ashley, Ohio 43003. The funeral service will directly follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Bush officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Ashley Cemetery.
