James "Jimmy" Robert Hummell

James "Jimmy" R. Hummell, beloved father, grandfather and brother, age 68 of Edison, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He was born on January 1, 1957, in Delaware to the late William and Juanita (Roach) Hummell.

After graduation Jimmy went on to serve his country in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge. Jimmy was a carpenter but many who knew him would say he was a jack of all trades and could work on and build just about anything.

In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed riding his bike, and playing darts. His family was everything to him and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jimmy was a great dad, grandpa and friend. He would give his shirt off his back even if it was his last one; he was always willing to help someone out.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Courtney Hummell of Kenton, his stepdaughter, Nikki Cox; five grandchildren, as well as one on the way; grandson Tristan High; as well as his siblings: Bill (Teresa) Hummell of Marengo, Johnny (Cindy) Hummell, Gary Hummell all of Fulton, Chris (Sheila) Hummell of Delaware and Charlie Hummel of Marion.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother Steven Hummell Sr.

A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Service, 440 Center Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315.
