James "Jim" Edward Ruehrmund

James E. Ruehrmund, age 79 of Cardington passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Riverside Hospital. He was born on October 18, 1943, in Cardington to Carl J. and Inez L. (Rengert) Ruehrmund who preceded him in death.

Jim was a 1961 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. He was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Worthington Christian Village in the Maintenance Department.

Jim was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Cardington. He was a history buff and loved taking trips to different places just to learn new things. His life revolved around his grandchildren; he did everything with them.

Jim met his wife Sharon Kay (Coffee) at The Little Brown Jug Square Dance, and they married on February 16, 1990, in Sunbury. She survives in Cardington.

In addition to his wife Sharon, Jim is survived by his children: Ann (Brad) Teague of Cardington and Mary Martin of Sunbury, his grandchildren: Joe Collins Jr., Hailey Collins, and James Collins, as well as his sister Lucille Ebert of Cardington.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son Joe Collins, his precious granddaughter Alexis Inez McKenzie, and two sisters Eilene Heimlich and Helen Schindler.

Friends may call on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Steven Dennis officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in Glendale Union Cemetery.
